On April 29th, APIMR – the Portuguese Association of Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy – held the 1st Symposium “Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy – Innovations and New Horizons in MIR”.
APIMR aimed to characterize and evaluate the current reality of professionals and students in Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy. It brought together highly responsible guests from hospitals, primary healthcare, education, recruitment companies, and the main unions in the field. These specialists analyzed the future prospects of the sector.
The organization ensured the quality of the symposium with technical-scientific lectures presented by recognized professionals dedicated to the continuous development of these areas. Specialists in Nuclear Medicine, Radiology, Radiotherapy, Radiation Oncology, Radiophysics, and Medicine participated.
The event also included a panel discussion with unions and recruitment companies. This panel highlighted the need to reformulate current MIR study plans, which no longer meet the needs of professionals, schools, users, and employers.
Several guests with leadership responsibilities joined the honorary committee and shared these concerns.
In the end, the participants concluded that knowledge only gains meaning when it is shared. Sharing allows us to recognize the need for future changes.
